{ What Took Me So Long }

you might think I'm referring to my lack of posts...
but I'm actually referring to the
 unfinished pine counter top in my laundry room.

It used to look like this

quite a difference , ehh?

You can read more about the Laundry Make Over

Since we've been renovating our kitchen
I've set up a little coffee station for
myself on the laundry room counter

here's a little box I bought years ago that
works well for little knick knacks
and such

The top was so easy to do and so economical.
It's a simple piece of Pine from Home Depot.
I had HD cut it to the length I needed, and
then attached it to the under side of the counter with "L" brackets.

I recently stained it with a poly-shade
in Walnut.

It's such a quick project, I can't believe it took me this
to finish.

I'm so happy with it.

I think I'll use and empty basket and use it for a mail drop.

{ Laundry Room }

I'm so happy with how this room turned out.
It had peach colored walls, trim, cabinets & doors, along with poor fluorescent lighting.
Now it's bright, clean and cheery.

I painted the entire room & trim a semi gloss white.
I also painted most of the cabinets the same color, so it was a pretty easy paint job.
I painted one cabinet turquoise for alittle pop of color.
I planned on going over the turquiose with Light French Gray from Behr, but for now I think I'm liking the shocking blue.

I remove the cabinet doors from the top of this cabinet and slid in an IKEA basket I had in the garage.

To get to the powder room , you have to pass through this room.
So, I'm happy it's looking a little nicer these days.

I used scrap wood I had laying around for the back splash.
I sprayed a few with random colors of paint I had in the basement stash.

I planned on purchasing a butcher block counter from IKEA, but then I had a thought...
I bought 3/4 pine from Home Depot and had the length but to size.
Now all I have to do is stain it.
And, it was 1/3 the cost!

I took the cabinet doors off the bottom cabinets too.
I had extra burlap laying around, so I draped it over a tension rod {stolen from the kitchen cabinets}
and trimmed the burlap in this red whatever you call it trim.

So, just a reminder...
here's the before

{ Laundry Room }

I planned on waving my magic wand and giving the laundry room a whole new look
in a matter of minutes ~
but,
it hasn't been easy.

My magic wand is on the fritz.
I have never had problems choosing paint colors.

but, the lighting in this room has me stumped.
I've painted the cabinets 3 different colors so far.
N O N E
of them are working.

I thought I could add a few upgrades, like a butcher block counter top ~
simple.
And removing several of the cabinet doors.

I whipped up a quick burlap skirt for the bottom of the counter area -

which makes me realize I must paint the insides of the cabinets also.
So, I've got to resolve this paint color issue.

The lighting is Hor-i-ble!

I was trying to think a little out of the box and paint the cabinets & walls something daring.
Something that still went with the rest of the house, but with a Ahh factor.

I've come up with this...
white walls.
yes, white.

something like this comes to mind, only in a laundry version.
{ if this is your room raise your hand }

I've never done white walls before.
I think that will brighten up the yellow problem.
Then the cabinets will be, well, you'll see...
