when the brooklyn home co. was featured on design*sponge a while back i totally fell in love. i somehow missed it on the day that it came out, but soon after a fellow designer sent me the link and said it was a must read. it was pretty much love at first sight as i’m sure it was for most everyone else who saw this amazing home with its eclectic mix of decor.
one of the many decor elements that stood out to me was the unique collection of light fixtures that fitzhugh and lyndsay used throughout their home. most of the fixtures were nautical in nature. the large cage fixtures that hang above the island were lamps from a freighter ship in india.
some more cage lighting in the hallway leading to the garden level studio
more than the nautical lighting, what really caught my eye was the vanity lighting in the bathroom. the couple used picture lights as their vanity lighting in the bathroom. how creative! picture lighting used this was something that i had never seen before.
there are many different styles of picture lighting. you can get a fixture similar to the style above from house of troy.
here’s another similar fixture from robert abbey with a slightly sleeker look.
or you could go with a completely different look that’s more modern with this house of troy light.
i think my personal favorite is this one from martha stewart.
so what do you think? like it? hate it? on the fence? it’s a big like for me.
