Henry 8 Months

I had planned on getting 6 month pictures taken of Henry, so you know how it goes... at 8 months we finally booked a date with the very talented Emily Joy Gresham.  Emily Joy took Henry's newborn 6 week pictures and I loved them so I was very excited to work with her again.  She had her work cut out because the smiliest baby in the world (we can't walk two feet in the grocery store without stopping because he is flirting with someone) would not crack one smile. Unheard of, but that is the way it goes right?  Somehow, in the midst of all his seriousness she was able to get some great pictures, here are just a few...
That hair... as wild as he is.
 My men- could.not.love.them. more.
For more information on Emily Joy's work (I highly recommend her) you can visit her blog or find her HERE.

Emily Joy Designs and Henry

When Henry was born I knew I wanted professional newborn pictures taken but I was intimidated and overwhelmed and I was not sure which direction to go. At six weeks I decided it was time; no longer a "new" newborn the clock was ticking. He had already changed so much from birth (and so much since these were taken)! So I called Emily Joy with Emily Joy Designs and I am so glad I did. Here is a small sampling of Henry's pictures and I could not be more pleased (especially since he was not cooperating that day).
I was nervous to have someone come take pictures since Henry and I were still figuring things out but she made me feel so comfortable, even when he was pitching a fit. As a mom (soon to be of three) Emily understands how to work with babies and children which was comforting to me. I could not recommend her services more! For more information you can visit her website or blog or e-mail her @ emilyjoygresham@gmail.com. I can't wait for our next session!

Caspian Finn

When our new baby boy, Caspian Finn, was born we hired my good friend Megan, of Megan Abelard Photography, to do our newborn session when he was one week old.  We never did formal newborn sessions with either of the girls, but I just really wanted to make sure we captured this special moment in our lives.

I love some of the sweet moments Megan captured and I wanted to share these moments with all of you.  So I hope you'll indulge me a little bit while I show off our sweet little boy and our new family of five.

We took some family shots as well, but with three kids under the age of four, getting everyone to cooperate and look at the camera is a giant task in itself.

And then I'll leave you all with several more of our new little man.......

When Cass is older he probably will not care for the fact that I shared his little nakey self here on the blog, but I couldn't help myself.  It's just too cute!

We love you little Caspian Finn!

Mamarazzi by Stacy Wasmuth {Book Review and Giveaway}

I was recently sent a copy of "Mamarazzi - Every Mom's Guide to Photographing Kids" by Stacy Wasmuth for me to review here on the blog.  How adorable is that little girl on the front cover?  Seriously, I don't know if it gets much cuter than that!

I was so excited to get my hands on this book because, though I love to take pictures of my girls, and I do have a nice camera, I don't exactly know what I'm doing.  I hope that's ok to admit.  Yes, I'm outing myself - My name is Lindsay.  I have a dSLR camera. And I don't know exactly how to use it.

But with that being said, I have been working really hard to learn more about photography and how to take good pictures, so this book came at the perfect time!  I find so many photography books are way to technical for my liking.  I am a visual learner, so I love pictures and examples and many of the books I've picked up are just filled to the brim with text.  I want to take good pictures of my kids, but I am by no means looking to become a true professional.

Mamarazzi by Stacy Wasmuth was written with a casual, friendly tone and addressed all of the issues I have with photographing children.  She covers a wide-range of topics that will interest many moms who just love, love, love taking pictures of their little ones.

Here is what the table of contents looks like so you can see what all the book entails:

This book goes into some detail with how to use your dSLR camera but it also has other great photography tips for those that use basic point-and-shoot cameras as well.  I love that the author goes into some detail in regards to photo editing as well because I end up doing a lot of that with the pictures that I take.

She talks about shooting different children of all ages, what to have them wear for photo shoots and how to get those winning smiles out of them without them saying "cheese" (which if you've ever photographed kids before, you know that never looks attractive).

Mamarazzi has some of the best eye candy of any photography book I have ever seen.  The sample photographs are amazing and there are TONS of them.  Besides being very informative, who doesn't love looking at photographs of adorable babies, cute toddlers, beautiful children and happy families?

Here is some additional information from Amazon.com about Mamarazzi by Stacy Wasmuth:

When It Rains...

My computer for the past 36 hours has been suffering from the worst virus it has ever seen. It seems even with the virus removed, mass chaos is running about within those walls. I am working on getting it fixed but until then if I owe you an e-mail I promise it is coming. Apparently my phone does not like the extra work it is being asked to perform. It is crazy how reliant I am on this laptop.
This picture found on Etsy shop Ashleykelemen, reminds me of another trend we saw at Highpoint- out of focus photography. I have to say, it grew on me.
